Lots and lots of new terms. Obviously I did not invent them :) And they were not invented lately either. Simply, I didn't know or they were simply missing from the glossary. As I acquire more and more knives, number of reviews grows and consequently the need for a bigger glossary. Hopefully it will help.

While I was watchinga movie last night, polished machi on my Tadatsuna Shirogami Kamagata usuba. That's the area where blade and handlemeet. Polishing does help with prolonged pinch grip. Not being a pro cook I still cut sometimes 203 hours in a row. Mainly 1-1.5 hours, but still, mirror polished surface is mucho better for my index finger ;)

Finally got my hands on this one. Upgraded from CPG 1.4 beta version that had tons of fixes by me to official 1.5.1 which is still alpha, but works fine.

Aritsugu 300mm Honkasumi Yanagiba review published
My very first high quality yanagi or yanagiba knife. Top notch in terms of sharpness and edge holding ability. Real biatch to sharpen unless you are properly equipped with DMT 8XXC diamond stones to cut initial bevels. Details in the review. Love it!

After struggling with BIOS not willing to save any changes ended up with cross-flashing BIOS. Using ASUS Rampage formula BIOS for my old Maximus X38. Well, I got X48 chipset after all ;) Now, if I only can get my hands on those OCZ blade series memory, I can definitely hit 4ghz. Stuck with measily 3.4ghz...

While waiting for the new platform next year decided to upgrade CPU and RAM. Got brand spanking new Intel Q9650 core 2 quad. 4 cores will do for now. Obviously something had to go wrong with overclock. Asus Maximus formula mobo decided to ignore my FSB settings after flashing BIOS. For 3 hours it would revert any FSB setting to 333hz. Called Asus tech support, I was told someone would call me back shortly, since all the technicians who had some knowledge of motherboards were busy. Obviously nobody called back. Cleared cmos, and set some other params in bios along with the FSB. All of the sudden it all worked. Because ofthe crappy Kingston memory the maximum OC I can get for now is 3.42ghz. It is a shame, ppl run that chip over 4ghz on air and I am watercooled... Couldn't get RAM, OCZ blade low voltage is out of stock everywhere...

Just received back polished blades that were re-hardened by Phil Wilson back few weeks ago. Look much better and actually close to mirror polish than after rehardening. Pix and more details later. The whole story why and what was rehardened is in the link for this entry.

I've had it for a while now, and used it a lot. Even though it gave me some troubles in the beginning, now it's set on 15 degree angle and cutting like crazy. Well, takes patina like crazy too. Still, very efficient and precise knife. Pleasure to use in short. Read the full review for more details.
