After waiting for this knife few months it is finally here. CPM S110V is a steel that is hard to come by, but Phil made it. Medium, upswept blade, very suitable for skinners. Blade is 5" long and around 3mm thick. Another superb cuter in my collection with very high edge holding. Initial review and pix coming up this weekend I hope.

Well, long story short. I just picked up 13 new kitchen knives to sharpen and review. New as in new to me and not reviewed on this site. Quite a catch, except they all are pretty messed up in terms of their edge sharpness and I have to sharpen them all. On the positive side I have few months to play with them. I won't really enjoy using those knives, and it is unlikely that I will use them heavily, but for testing purposes it will do. Overall, I got 1 Furi cleaver, yes that Furi knife, which I dont' even consider a knife, plus 1 Shun classic santoku, 4 Henckels, 2 Wusthofs and 5 Porsche design knives ;) Porsches are a kick. Weirdo looking blades with crappy 301 stainless steel, and priced like Porsche. I guess only Porsche would have the guts to price cheapo stainless steel knives that high. Cutco still beats them with their prices, but even Cutco junk 440A steel is better than Porsche knives 301 stainless.

Fixed knife edge grind type page image styles. Now it will not jump below the other divs. Updated Tadatsuna 270mm Shirogami Gyuto Review.

Interesting knife from very famous and respected maker. The thinnest gyuto in my collection. Just 2mm thick blade. For 270mm long blade that is really thin. Compared to western kitchen knives this one is a razor. Cuts exceptionally good too. One more interesting aspect, Shirogami or white steel. Very pure alloy, gets extremely sharp.

One more procrastinated review. Had knife and the notes for around 3 years now. Actually I got two more of those, competition grade. Anyway, one of the sexiest knives on the planet.

Cold Steel Recon Tanto

Since I was in the mood of going through the old records, notes and reviews, I have figured this one was rather incomplete as well. So, I have arranged old records and compiled into the updated review. Sadly Carbon V is no longer an option with Cold Steel, if you can find one you got lucky ;)

One of the oldest knives in my collection. Still sitting in the trunk of my car, in the emergency package along with the other useful items like flashlight, first aid kit, jump start cables and whatever small stuff one might need.

I've had the review notes sitting here for few years. Forgot about them. That little knife deserved better :) So, finally I've sorted them out and put that on the site. Really good knife for its price. I'm not into cold steel knives for years now, but that one is really good. Bad thing is that Cold Steel dropped Carbon-V steel version and went for AUS-8A steel instead, which is significantly worse in terms of toughness and edge holding ability, however is a lot more stain resistant.

Tojiro Flash series Santoku review has been published

Nice and well made knife. I don't use it often anymore, more into gyutos and nakiris and dropped santokus pretty much completely. But, if you like them, then check out the review for more details.

Well, probably this one is a contender for the stupidest. Tragedy in the the Winnenden school led to the proposal to ban paintball and lasertag?!? Come on, how much of an idiot a lawmaker can be to propose that. Germany already has laws against computer games. They either have to be altered(Half Life had robots instead of soldiers) to meet their requirements, or banned altogether. In Germany military service mandatory. Every guy goes to the army and learns how to shoot and kill with real weapons and live ammo. But the same person can't play paintball and lasertag? As for the Germans asking to ban handguns and high caliber weapons, read your own history, alright? Back in 1930s Hitler did do that and where did it lead Germany and the world is pretty well documented.
